I apologize for the lack of updates to this blog, I recently started writing and subsequently finished a new manuscript which I am actively searching for representation for. That monopolized a lot of my time, I also moderated my friend Marie Wishert's reading for her book "Ignite," on Instagram Live. It was so much fun that she pitched the idea of me doing a reading of my book "Nothing to Get Nostalgic About," with our roles swapped. So, Tuesday May 4th at 7 p.m. on Instagram Live she will be asking questions and moderating the Q&A at the conclusion of my reading. If you don't have Instagram? Don't worry, shoot me over any questions you have and I can answer them the night of the reading and the full video from the reading will be uploaded on You Tube once its done. If you're on Instagram and you want to participate? Follow me @eddiebrophywriter. Easter weekend, I was SO privileged to receive a hand-written card from a former co-worker letting me know that she read and enjoyed my book and my writing. I have to be honest with you, as a writer? This was a first for me. Published and unpublished, I have never been the recipient of such a profoundly thoughtful gesture and so many kind words with regard to my work. It was really the catalyst for an exciting weekend as I learned that four of my poems "Conduit," "Soapbox Dancers in the Supermarket," "Sober Underground," and "Limerence," were chosen to appear in the Spring 2021 issue of In Parenthesis Literary Magazine. Grab a copy here. To cap off a very exciting and unfathomable weekend? I also ventured out with my youngest to one of the local libraries and found a copy of my book! The librarian was super sweet and even offered to snap a picture of me holding my book in the library. What an honor it is to have my work featured in a collection of other local authors. As a latchkey kid who grew up in my local library? It was such a privilege to see that my work made it into a few libraries so far (I'm working on trying to get more copies out there, including the library I grew up in). Even cooler? I had the VERY sincere honor of getting to share it with my son (granted, he was sleeping...but its the thought).
Another sincere honor? Feathered Quill both reviewed my book which you can read here, and I was privileged to take part in an interview with one of their staff which you can read here. It has been a truly exciting few weeks...and then I finished my latest manuscript! However, this now brings me to one of the most tedious tasks in writing....trying to find anyone who wants to represent me or publish it. So, we'll see what happens and I swear I will keep you all posted!
